ME 490: Naval ARCHITECTURE
Naval Architecture was the first 400 level Mechanical Engineering class I took. I knew I would need several senior option classes by the time I graduated, so I decided to take it my first quarter in the department. Little did I know that I would end up choosing the senior option "Mechatronics", which would require it's own list of option courses. However, it all turned out fine, because I'm now applying my credit from Naval Architecture toward graduate school, which is great.
I thought I would be able to design some cool boats like the Black Pearl or the Victory, but it turned out we spent a lot of time doing multivariable calculus. I learned a tremendous amount about the applications of calculus, how to deal with water surface affects, and how complicated boat stability is.
Below I have included my final report for a design project in this class. The design project utilized the software "GHS" which is a boat stability software, but is archaic by my generation's standards.
